Reading from
Three Disciplines
Astrology, Tarot
and Palmistry
In
1969, as a freshman at Boston University's School of Fine and Applied
Arts, I began the practice of handprinting as a historical and artistic
manner of studying and analyzing hands. I read a book by Fred Gettings,
The Book of the
Hand
that encouraged that the best way to understand palmistry was to
continuously print the hands of people from every walk of life.
Palmistry not only helps to explain the patterns and behavior we
experience as human living with our own unique destinies, but also
maintains that our hands record our continued growth from birth. This
study of hands naturally led to deeper study of astrology and its link
to the human psyche. With the ever-broadening interest in metaphysics,
I worked as an astrologer and palm reader in Cambridge, Massachusetts
at the Sphinx Bookstore. There I studied with a couple of gifted
astrologers and devoured numerous textbooks on various metaphysical and
religious subjects. It was at that time I began my practice and study
of the tarot.
Over
the nearly four decades, aside from developing as a fine artist and
fashion dye artist, I have studied and practiced Buddhism, cultivated
numerous gardens throughout the Pacific Northwest. I've read
professionally and for pleasure, for thousands of people. I have
thousands of charts and hand prints in my collections that has help me
see my role as a compassionate spirit as being truly rewarding. When
working professionally as an astrologer, I always find it necessary to
record the reading for reference. I believe a lively questions and
answers dialog is so specific to the moments created by the individuals
involved. In the longer tarot sessions, the recording of the
reading on tape can also be an option along with paper record of the
reading.
I
